INTERIM COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BENZOCAINE, BUTAMBEN AND TETRACAINE
HYDROCHLORIDE, TOPICAL AEROSOL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by DLA, Defense Personnel Support Center, Directorate of Medical Materiel, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information.
Salient Characteristics:
Shall be Benzocaine, Butamben and Tetracaine Hydrochloride Topical Aerosol.
The aerosol shall consist of the following formulation:

Butyl aminobenzoate (Butamben) |

Benzalkonium chloride |
0.5% |

Cetyldimethylethylammonium bromide |
0.005% in a biand water soluble base. |
Shall be supplied 56 gm in a commercially available bottle, with four (4) cannulas consisting of the following size: two J-4, one J-6 and one J-8.
Materials used in manufacture shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Workmanship. The aerosol shall be free from defects which may detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package, consisting of a bottle with four (4) cannulas, as specified, constitutes one unit.
