INTERIM COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LEVONORGESTREL AND ETHINYL ESTRADIOL TABLETS, USP,
Triphasic, 84s
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by the Defense Personnel Support Center, Directorate of Medical Materiel, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets, USP.
Six tablets containing: 0.050 mg Levonorgestrel + 0.030 mg
Ethinyl Estradiol followed by:
Five tablets containing: 0.075 Levonorgestrel + 0.040 mg
Ethinyl Estradiol followed by:
Ten tablets containing: 0.125 mg Levonorgestrel + 0.030 mg
Ethinyl Estradiol followed by:
Seven tablets containing: inert ingredients.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
All ingredients shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Workmanship. The tablets shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG).
One package containing 84 tablets, as specified, constitutes one unit. Three 28-tablet cycles shall be packaged in a unit package similar to one of the following.
Shall be packaged 84 tablets in a 3-cycle compact. The compact shall be constructed so that 28 tablets will be available for the first cycle, and then a selector lever will make the remaining tablets available 28 at a time for the next two cycles. The 28-tablet cycle shall contain 21 Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets and 7 tablets containing inert ingredients.
