INTERIM COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PHENYLEPHRINE HYDROCHLORIDE NASAL SOLUTION, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by the Defense Personnel Support Center, Directorate of Medical Materiel, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information. This document may be used in preference to Military Specification MIL-P-37496 dated 2 December 1976.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be phenylephrine Hydrochloride Nasal Solution, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
Shall contain suitable buffers and preservatives as needed to render the solution isotonic and non-irritating.
All ingredients shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
For Strength 1, shall contain 1 percent of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, within the applicable assay limits for the solution.
For Strength 2, shall contain 0.25 percent of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, within the applicable assay limits for the solution.
For Strength 3, shall contain 0.125 percent of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, within the applicable assay limits for the solution.
Workmanship. The Solution shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit.
For Size 1- Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 1 pint (473 ml), as specified, constitutes one unit.
