INTERIM COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SULFANILAMIDE VAGINAL CREAM, 15 PERCENT
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by the Defense Personnel Support Center, Directorate of Medical Materiel, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information. This document may be used in preference to MIL-S-37241 dated 12 November 1975.
Shall be a white vaginal cream, uniform in texture and color, containing Sulfanilamide 15% in a water miscible, non-staining base. Base shall consist of propyleneglycol, stearic acid, diglycol stearate, parabens, trolamine and water buffered with lactic acid to pH of approximately 4.3.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the FDA. All ingredients used in the cream shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Workmanship. The cream shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). Shall be supplied 4 oz (113.4 gram) in a commercially available tube type container. One package containing one container of cream, together with an applicator or dispenser for vaginal use, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producersí own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
