COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
POVIDONE-IODINE TOPICAL SOLUTION, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be Povidone-Iodine Topical Solution, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
All ingredients in the solution shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Shall contain 10 percent rovidine-Iodine, equivalent to 1 percent w/v available iodine within the applicable assay limits.
The solution shall contain no free iodine when tested as specified in Identification Test B in the USP monograph for Povidone-Iodine Topical Aerosol Solution.
Workmanship. The solution shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit.
For Size 1 – Bottle (BT). One plastic bottle with dispensing cap, containing 8 fl oz (237 ml), as specified, constitutes one unit.
For Size 2 - Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 1 gallon (3.78 liters), as specified, constitutes one unit.
For Size 3 – Box (BX). Shall be supplied 15 ml in a commercially available screw or snap cap, multiple use immediate container. One box containing 50 containers, as specified, constitutes one unit.
