COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LIDOCAINE HYDROCHLORIDE INJECTION, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injection, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
For Strength 1, shall be a 0.5 percent solution of Lidocaine Hydrochloride containing 5 mg of Lidocaine Hydrochloride per ml. within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 2, shall be a 1 percent solution of Lidocaine Hydrochloride containing 10 mg of Lidocaine Hydrochloride per ml. within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 3, shall be a 2 percent solution of Lidocaine Hydrochloride containing 20 mg of Lidocaine Hydrochloride per ml. within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 4, shall be a 4 percent solution of Lidocaine Hydrochloride containing 40 mg of Lidocaine Hydrochloride per ml. within the applicable assay limits. Shall be suitable for continuous intravenous infusion.
For Strength 5, shall be a 20 percent solution of Lidocaine Hydrochloride containing 200 mg of Lidocaine Hydrochloride per ml. within the applicable assay limits. Shall be suitable for use with intravenous infusion solution in treating cardiac arrhythmias. Shall be labeled to indicated that it is not for direct injection.
