COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
ERYTHROMYCIN OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics.
Shall be sterile Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
All ingredients shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Shall contain 5 mg of Erythromycin per gram within the applicable assay limits.
For Size 1, not less than 32 months of the expiration dating period shall remain at time of delivery to the government.
For Size 2, not less than 27 months of the expiration dating period shall remain at time of delivery to the government.
For Size 3, not less than 15 months of the expiration dating period shall remain at time of delivery to the government.
Workmanship. Ointment shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit.
For Size 1, Tube (TU). One tube with an ophthalmic tip containing 1/8 oz (3.5 grams), as specified, constitutes one unit.
