COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
AMPICILLIN CAPSULES, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be Ampicillin Capsules, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
All ingredients shall be of pharmaceutical quality.
For Strength 1, each capsule shall contain a quantity of Ampicillin, anhydrous or Ampicillin, trihydrate, equivalent to 250 mg of Ampicillin within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 2, each capsule shall contain a quantity of Ampicillin, Anhydrous or Ampicillin, trihydrate, equivalent to 500 mg of Ampicillin within the applicable assay limits.
Workmanship. The capsules shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit.
For Size 1 – Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 40 capsules, as specified, constitutes one unit. Bottle shall be supplied with a child resistant safety closure and shall have a minimum height of 51 mm base to shoulder.
For Size 2 - Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 100 capsules of one strength only, as specified, constitutes one unit.
For Size 3 - Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 500 capsules, as specified, constitutes one unit.
