COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CALCIUM CARBONATE AND VITAMIN D TABLETS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics.
Shall be coated Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D Tablets.
All ingredients shall be of a pharmaceutical grade.
Strength:
Calcium Carbonate 625 mg equivalent to 250 mg elemental calcium.
Vitamin D2 or D3 125 USP units.
Various trace elements may be included.
The tablets shall assay to contain not less than 92.5 percent and not more than 110 percent of the required amount of Calcium Carbonate when determined by the USP Method in the monograph for Calcium Carbonate Tablets, USP.
The tablets shall assay to contain not less than 90 percent and not more than 150 percent of the required amount of Vitamin D2 or D3 during the three year shelf life when determined by the USP Method (581) or another suitable, accurate, and reproducible method (s).
