COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HEPARIN SODIUM INJECTION, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-H-37456 which is cancelled.
Salient characteristics.
Shall be Heparin Sodium Injection, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
Shall be labeled as USP Heparin units.
All ingredients shall be of a pharmaceutical grade.
For Strength 1, shall contain 1000 USP Heparin units per ml within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 2, shall contain 5000 USP Heparin units per ml within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 3, shall contain 10,000 USP Heparin units per ml within the applicable assay limits.
For Strength 4, shall contain 20,000 USP Heparin units per ml within the applicable assay limits.
Workmanship. The injection shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit.
For Size I – Vial (VI). Shall be supplied 5 ml in a commercially available vial. One vial, as specified, constitutes one unit.
For Size II – Vial (VI). Shall be supplied 10 ml in a commercially available vial. One vial, as specified, constitutes one unit.
