COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CETYLPYRIDINIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTION, ALCOHOLIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-C-36351B which is cancelled.
Salient characteristics.
Shall be pleasant-tasting, clear, non-toxic, non-irritating, hydroalcoholic solution containing 0.05 percent W/V (1:2000) Cetylpyridinium Chloride.
Shall contain not less than 95.0 percent and not more than 105.0 percent of the required amount of Cetylpyridinium Chloride when assayed by a suitable, accurate and reproducible method.
The solution shall have a pH of 7.0 to 7.8 at 25°C when determined using USP method.
The solution shall assay to contain no more than 16 percent Alcohol when determined using USP method.
Materials used in manufacture of the solution shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Workmanship. The solution shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). Shall be supplied in a bottle containing 4 fl oz (118 ml) of solution. Bottle shall be supplied with either an inner or outer tamper evident seal. One package containing 60 bottles, as specified, constitutes one unit.
