COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SODIUM PHOSPHATES ENEMA, USP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-S-37137 which is cancelled.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be Sodium Phosphates Enema, USP.
Shall be in accordance with the requirements of the USP.
All ingredients shall be of a pharmaceutical grade.
Shall be supplied in an unbreakable polyethylene squeeze bottle, which shall be provided with a screw cap closure with a rectal tube portion exclusive of the screw cap shall have an overall length of not less than 1-7/8 inches nor more than 2-1/8 inches.
The rectal tube shall be made of polyethylene, shall contain a rubber diaphragm valve, shall be prelubricated with White Petrolatum, USP, and shall be enclosed in suitable polyethylene cap.
Workmanship. The solution shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 4-1/2 oz (133 ml), as specified, constitutes one unit.
