INTERIM COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
OPHTHALMIC IRRIGATING SOLUTION
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by the Defense Personnel Support Center, Directorate of Medical Materiel, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information.
Salient Characteristics:
Shall be Ophthalmic Irrigating Solution.
All ingredients shall be of pharmaceutical grade.
Shall be a sterile solution containing:
Sodium Chloride |
0.64% |
Potassium Chloride |
0.075% |
Calcium Chloride |
0.048% |
Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate |
0.030% |
Sodium Acetate |
0.39% |
Sodium Citrate |
0.17% |
In water for injection.
Shall assay to contain the required amount of Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate, Sodium Acetate and Sodium Citrate.
Workmanship. The solution shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG).
For Size 1, shall be supplied 15 ml in a commercially available sterile, dropper-tip, flexible plastic container, designed with an adapter plug that will accept an irrigating needle. The sterile container shall be blister or strip packaged which shall provide a sterile exterior environment for the container. One package containing 36 containers, as specified, constitutes one unit.
