COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

BUTALBITAL, ASPIRIN, AND CAFFEINE TABLETS

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.

This commercial item description covers Butalbital, Aspirin and Caffeine Tablets for use as an analgesic.

Salient characteristics:

Shall be Butalbital, Aspirin and Caffeine Tablets.

Shall contain 50 mg of Butalbital, USP, 325 mg of Aspirin USP and 40 mg Caffeine, USP per tablet within the applicable assay limits for the tablets.

Not less than 32 months of the expiration dating period shall remain at time pf delivery to the Government.

Workmanship. Tablets shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.

Unit.

For Size 1 – Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 1000 tablets, as specified, constitutes one unit.

For Size 2 – Package (PG). Shall be supplied 25 tablets in a continuous reverse-numbered roll blister strip package. Each tablet shall be sealed in its own pocket and so designed that the end pocket can be removed and the seal on the adjoining pocket shall not be disturbed. The individual pockets shall be consecutively numbered one (1) to twenty-five (25). One roll of twenty-five (25) tablets shall be contained in a suitable carton, so designed as to be tamperproof. The numbers of the strip package roll shall  be in reverse order so that the first pocket removed shall be number twenty-five (25) and the second number removed shall be twenty-four (24), etc. The carton shall have one transparent plastic window on the side opposite that the label. One package containing 25 tablets, as specified, constitutes one unit.

For Size 3 – Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 30 tablets, as specified, constitutes one unit. Bottle shall be supplied with a child- resistant safety closure and a minimum height of 52 mm base to shoulder.
